Press Release - City of Philip Contracts with CodeRED to Provide Notification Services
PHILIP, SD, November 28, 2019 – The City of Philip has recently launched the CodeRED notification system and the CodeRED Weather Warning service. Message recipients Caller ID will read 866-419-5000 (or OnSolve) for CodeRED calls. CodeRED Weather Warning calls will read 800-566-9780 (or OnSolve).
The CodeRED system will serve as the backbone of the City’s emergency and general information communications. The system sends telephone calls, text messages and emails to inform residents. CodeRED was selected for its reliability and accuracy, as well as the system’s widespread adoption rates across the State of South Dakota and United States.
“CodeRED’s robust notification system will provide City officials with a reliable, easy-to-use interface to quickly deliver critical information to our citizens during emergencies and other events. We are eager to use this innovative technology to enhance our communication with the public and emergency preparedness plans,” said Mayor Mike Vetter. “We anticipate using the system to notify residents of emergencies, road closures, utility service and garbage collection interruptions as well as snow removal alerts.”
CodeRED has provided the City an initial database of residential and business telephone numbers; however all residents living within a three mile radius of the City limits are encouraged to visit www.philipsd.us and click on the CodeRED logo to enroll their contact information including all phone numbers, addresses and emails. Enrollment forms are also available at the City Finance Office. CodeRED also provides a free Mobile Alert app which is available by texting Philip to 99411 from any cell phone.
