Accepting Sealed Bids - Hangar Building Repairs
The City of Philip, South Dakota, will receive sealed bids to repair the 4-Stall Hangar Building located at 23116 Airport Lane until Monday, July 10, 2023, at 3:00 PM (MT) at the City Office located on the 4th floor of the Haakon County Courthouse at 140 South Howard Avenue in Philip, South Dakota. Sealed bids may also be mailed to the City Administrator, City of Philip at PO Box 408, Philip, South Dakota 57567. Received sealed bids will be publicly opened and read aloud at the above place and time.
The Hangar Building Repairs include the following:
Claim #1: Removing and replacing the damaged exterior tin sheeting on the roof and west wall along with the gutter and downspout on northeast corner.
Claim #2: Removing and replacing the damaged exterior tin sheeting and trim on the hangar doors. Work to be coordinated with door company.
Said repairs shall be completed by December 1, 2023. Coordinating a site visit or obtaining additional information, contact Brittany Smith, City Administrator, at 605-859-2175 or cityadmin@philipsd.us.
Sealed bids shall reference the claims separately (including detailed descriptions of the work to make the necessary repairs and the related cost) along with the total amount for all repairs. The cost shall include all applicable taxes. Bids must be sealed and clearly marked “Hangar Building Repairs”. The bid will be awarded to One contract for the lowest combined total for both claims.
Each bid must be accompanied by a certified check or bank draft payable to the order of the City of Philip, South Dakota, in an amount equal to five percent (5%) of the total bid. A bid bond in an amount equal to ten percent (10%) of the total bid will be accepted in lieu of a certified check or bank draft. Surety for bid bond must be authorized to do business in the State of South Dakota.
Pursuant to State Law, a copy of the bidder’s sales and use tax license and a copy of the bidder’s excise tax license as issued by the State of South Dakota must accompany the bid. In lieu of a copy of the license, the bidder shall submit appropriate evidence that the bidder and all affiliates have the appropriate licenses.
A certificate of insurance will be required prior to beginning the work.
Bids may be held by the City Council for a period of not more than thirty (30) days from the date of opening of bids for the purpose of reviewing the bids, investigating the qualifications of the bidders and completing financial arrangements prior to awarding the Work. Conditions of the award include providing the City with a performance and payment bond in an amount equal to the awarded contract and entering into a contract with the City. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive any informalities in the bidding and make awards to the Owner’s best interest.
